Bali is perhaps the most popular holiday destination in Indonesia and was awarded as "the best island of the world" by the prestigious "The International Travel Magazine". There are many places where to go in Bali, as well as many things to do, landmarks and attractions of all kind to enjoy while holiday. Foreign voyagers should start the exploration of the island with Bedugul. It is a popular center with plenty of leisure activities located in Bali's highlands at 37.5 miles or 60 kilometers north to Denpasar. There is a temple, dedicated to "Goddess of Lake", erected on the shores of lake Beratan. Being one of three biggest lakes in Bali, it offers various water sports and boat rides. An once small fruit and flower market called Candi Kuning has grown along with sightseer affluence in the area and is nowadays a focal point for buying memento and handicraft. Hundreds of species of plants can be admired in the Bedugul Botanical Garden, which features also an Etnobotany Museum that displays traditional healing and medicine plants. The entire area can be visited in a day tour lasting roughly 10-12 hours.

Kintamani village is another well known holiday place in Bali, particularly famous for the wonderful views on the Batur peak and the nearby lake. Mount Batur, considered one of the main landmarks in Bali, is an active volcano that break out more than twenty times in the last two hundred years. Those eruptions have had a major impact on the local communities as they often need rebuilding. The biggest lake in Bali, Lake Batur, is a water source for farmers and also offers opportunities for various things to do like fishing and boating expeditions. Many hotels and restaurants were built recently in this zone, all providing amazing views of the surrounding nature and fresh mountain air. The most magnificent panorama can be seen in the early morning hours, when the first sun rays emerge on the Earth's surface on the mountain's ridges. Evenings and nights are usually foggy and cold, so sightseer are advised to dress warmly.

A Hindu temple, Tanah Lot Temple, located at about 9 miles (15 kilometers) west of Denpasar on a rock formation, is one of the holiday attractions that offer breathtaking views especially at sunset. A Hindu priest, Dang Hyang Nirata, built this shrine in the 16 th century and dedicated it to God of Sea (Sang Hyang Baruna) as a manifest to the "Almighty God and the Protector of the Ocean". In 1980's the rock's face where is settled the religious building started to crumble and therefore going there become dangerous, so Japan gave a loan to Indonesian government to restore it, today the area being again a premier tourist destination. In order to get to the rock, visitors have to walk through a long set of souvenir shops and other stalls, displaying on sale generally local products.

When on holiday in Bali, guests who don't know where to go are advised to visit Museum of Bali in Denpasar city center, on the historic Puputan Square. The museum was built in 1931 by P.J. Moojen and, besides the exhibits displayed there, its four buildings are also a known landmark in Bali because of the high architectural value. With courtyards, exterior walls and gates, the building is designed to resemble the royal palace that used to stand on the same place. The collections exposed inside include weapons, Ming ceramic, dance costumes, clothes, paintings, and other contemporary and prehistoric items. The central part in pavilion is dedicated to textiles like "geringsing" and "ikat", kind of products made in the famous Aga villages. The museum is open every day, excepting Monday, and most sightseeing tours in Bali include it in their itineraries.
